Hello Elevate Volleyball Club Families,
We are busy preparing for another club season. Here is a quick update of what is going on:
1. 17U and 18U Teams
We’ve had many inquiries from 17U and 18U parents and athletes regarding the upcoming season. Many of them want to know if we are having teams in these age groups. The simple answer is YES! We have secured an excellent coach for this year (Mackenzie Coyle, see her bio below) and are busy recruiting other coaches to help. What we need to know is how many girls are interested and committed to playing this year? Please send us an email or register for tryouts. Or better yet, come to Sunday training at 7:30 PM at CBC and meet our new coach! The responses will help us finalize our plans for how many teams we have and at which age groups. If the interest is there, we are committed to working to find a way to create competitive teams and for as many girls to play as possible.
2. Fall Training
Our fall training sessions are underway at Columbia Bible College. They take place every Sunday (except for Thanksgiving weekend) until November 3. There are still spots remaining at all age groups. If you are interested in attending, register by going to our website and clicking the programs tab (www.elevatevolleyball.ca).
3. Coaching Staff for the 2020 Season
Coaches are vital in order to deliver an outstanding club experience for everyone. We’ve been working hard to confirm great coaches at all levels. So far we have confirmed the following:
12U – Karen Jarvis
Karen is a long time coach with Elevate, level 2 certified and previously has coached at all age groups. Last year her 14U captured a bronze medal at Nationals (tier 3).
13U – Josh Olson
Josh has been an assistant coach with Elevate (13, 14, and 15U) for the last 3 years, helping those teams achieve success at both Provincial and National tournaments. He’s excited to take on one of the 13U teams this year.
13U – Kathlyn Jarvis
Kathlyn is moving up to become one of our head coaches this year. She is young and passionate about volleyball, and she has been cutting her teeth as an assistant coach, most recently at 16U level.
14U – Leasa Lepine
Leasa returned to Elevate last year after a taking a coaching break. She has long time experience coaching both volleyball and softball at elite levels. Together with her daughters Anna Marie and Kathleen, they coached 13U last year, delivering a terrific experience for all of the girls.
14U – Gillian Hennessy
Gillian was a first year head coach last year at 13U, where her competitive playing experience and fun attitude really showed well. She has continued gaining her experience this school season, as she is currently head coach of GW Graham Secondary’s junior girls team.
15U – Shane Hennessy
Shane has been coaching at Elevate and in the Chilliwack School District for many years. Last year Shane led one of our 16U teams, and he is currently coaching at grade 8 level at Mt. Slesse Middle School. You’ll also see him coaching at our Sunday training sessions, leading the grade 5&6 group.
16U – Amanda Dick
Amanda is entering her third year with Elevate, previously coaching at 14 and 15U. In her “spare” time, she is also an assistant coach with the women’s team at Columbia Bible College and a head coach with the Abby Christian senior girls team.
16U – Carlos Navarrete
Carlos is a 4th year coach with Elevate, starting as an assistant at 13U before becoming a head coach at 14 and 15U. He is also the head coach of Bateman Secondary’s junior girls team and an assistant with Clayburn Middle’s grade 8s. You can also see him at Sunday training during the grade 7&8 sessions.
17/18U – Mackenzie Coyle
Mackenzie joined Elevate this fall, having recently moved from Ontario. She brings with her Provincial and University level playing experience, along with recent head coaching positions at the Durham Attack Volleyball Club. We are very excited to have her as one of our head coaches, and she is also the lead coach for the grade 9-12 group at Sunday training.
We have openings for head coaches and assistants at all age groups. If you or anyone that you know is interested, please contact us. Coaching is an extremely rewarding experience, and the club offers training support at every step.
